Kotebe University of Education Delivers Training on Engagement in Research to Its Academic Staff

Kotebe University of Education delivered training on ‘Academic Staff’s Engagement in Research as Professional Development.’ In his opening speech, Honourable Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, the President, emphasized the importance of the training for updating staff’s skills, adding personal and institutional values, developing a culture of undertaking research, and then creating knowledge. He also encouraged the staff to engage in carrying out research to share knowledge and shine together, as to his words.
Two renowned educators and researchers, Prof.Yelaw Indawoke and Prof. Belay Terefa, from Bahir Dar University and Addis Ababa University respectively, have been invited to deliver the training.
Prof. Yalew has shared his rich experience and the modus operandi of undertaking research and publishing scholastic articles. On top of sharing his extraordinary experience of conducting research and publishing articles, Prof. Belay has underscored the essence of having a passion for conducting research regardless of the challenges the staff might face. He also underlined that researchers need to develop the wisdom of taking the challenges as opportunities to bring change in the status quo.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Berhanemeskel inspired the trainees to apply the experiences they gained from the two scholars who delivered the training.
The participants of the training have finally reflected on the thoughts shared and discussed in the event.
