KUE’s Sport Science Academy Holds a Symposium

A Symposium that conferred the impact of ‘Physical Education, Sport and Exercise o n the Growth and Development of a Healthy Lifestyle’ was held by the Sports Science Academy of  Kotebe University of Education on March 29, 2022, in the presence of academic staff, students, and alumni.
In his opening speech, Dr. Shimelis Zewdie, Academic Affairs V/President, Kotebe University of Education, reminded the audience that Kotebe as an academic institution has been branded in the enterprise of its Sport Science Academy, the then Department of Health and Physical Education. He also expressed that the present platform is an opportunity to raise the standard of the University. As to Dr. Shimelis, sport contributes to the growth of a country for it physically and mentally nurtures manpower who is central to any development endeavors.
Three papers, “The Long Journey of Sport Science Academy in the History of KUE”, “Age is not a Limiting …” and “Physical Exercise for Leadership, Health and Effectiveness” by Dr. Yemane Gossaye, Mr. Muluneh Girma and Mr. Netsanet Kassa (an alumnus of KUE) respectively, were presented and discussed in the event. The paper presentations were accompanied by aerobic and other physical exercises orchestrated by renowned aerobic and fitness team members who themselves were led by the alumni of the University.
In the event, a book titled “የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ ለጤናማ ህይወት” written by Dr. Tilahun Bereded was inaugurated. Individuals and institutions who contributed to the realization of the symposium were also given certificates of recognition.
In his closing remark, Dr. Yemane Gossaye, the Director of Sport Science Academy, noted that the Academy has plans to launch new academic programs, which give community service and entertain symposia that involve a range of stakeholders and alumni.
