FLH ORGANIZES TRAINING ON TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Faculty of Languages and Humanities (FLH) of Kotebe University of Education offered a training titled “Teacher Professional Development: Implications for Quality of Education” to teachers on May 19, 2022.
Dr Fisseha Motuma, Dean of FLH, in his welcoming speech to the participants expressed that a major concern of an education university as Kotebe University of Education is improving teachers’ professional skills and competence on a sustainable basis. The Faculty has organized this training to support teachers by making them aware of the current professional improvement strategies, said Dr Fisseha.
Dr Girma Wossene, an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, stressed the critically important roles that a comprehensive and sustainable professional development of teachers play in the quality of education during the training. Dr Girma also emphasized that both teachers and students can be competent in the 21st-century global market if their knowledge and professional development are up to the requirements of the modern information and communication technology, which constitutes the present-day education itself and the educational aids that are employed.
In his closing remarks, KUE’s Academic Affairs V/President, Dr Shimelis Zewdie, underpinned that all faculties, colleges and departments are expected to rethink and tune their working culture to the new approach as our University is improving and developing its structure as well as curriculum. Dr Shimelis expressed his appreciation for the faculty’s effort in acting within this frame of the University.
