KUE Holds a Project Validation Workshop

Kotebe University of Education (KUE) held a project validation workshop today, on the 11th of November 2022 at Haile Grand Hotel. The validated project titled “Comprehensive Assessment and Profiling of Disaster Risk of Addis Ababa City and Institutional Assessment of Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission” of which agreement was signed between KUE (the then KMU) and Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission (FDRMC) two years ago. The project was compressive enough that it covered ten risk-prone areas, namely: fire, transport, biological, electrical, flood, landslide, industrial pollution, contraction, chemical, and radiation related potential disasters in the metropolis.
The final profiling document of the project is so exhaustive, voluminous, and inclusive to the extent that it holds about 2500 pages that detail the scenarios of the client organisation, i.e. FRDMC, and the way out of its current problems.
At the validation event, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, the President of KUE, emphatically underscored that the project was the second biggest that the University has undertaken ever before. The President also remarked that the project was conducted with a great sense of ownership and commitment. He further spoke that the University always strives to undertake projects which are not shelved, but practically executed.
Fiseha Garedew, the Commissioner of Addis Ababa City Administrations’ Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission, emphasised in his project validation event remarks that the project is so timely and it has paramount contributions towards alleviating the problems of his organisation. He also added that FDRMC would continue working with KUE even during the implementation phase of the project.
