Relevance and Quality Assurance Directorate Organizes Training to KUE’s Academic Leaders

The Relevance and Quality Assurance Directorate of Kotebe University of Education organized a one-day training under the theme “Education Quality and Institutional Governance Nexus” for the KUE Academic leaders to help them play significant roles in ensuring the quality of education.
Honourable Dr. Birhanemeskel Tena, the President of KUE, stressed in his opening speech that the present training is unique in its kind as the issue of education quality touches everyone and every activity in the Institution. Dr. Birhanemeskel also underlined the fact that quality in education is ensured using a range of parameters and of these having teachers with professional integrity, placing priority on students as well as developing a knowledge-led system are the major ones. The President further emphasized the role of teachers in bringing quality education and creating capable citizens in a country.
Two experts from the Education and Training Authority (ETA), namely Mr.Sisay Tekle, Quality Audit, and Enhancement Senior Expert, and Dr. Dunkana Negussa, Director of Quality Audit & Enhancement Directorate, delivered their expertise-based knowledge on the topics:‘Quality in Higher Education and Governance (Leadership)’ and quality Nexus’ respectively. The presentations were followed by discussions based on questions, opinions, and views raised by the participants.
In his closing speech, Dr. Shimelis Zewdie, Academic Affairs V/President, KUE, highlighted the importance of viewing quality in higher education from three perspectives: quality in the learning-teaching process, in research, and publications as well as in basic infrastructure, which is a precursor for the first two. Adding to that, Dr. Shimelis called upon the leaders at KUE to mobilize resources, coordinate the personnel and create a system of monitoring and evaluation so as to bring about quality in the institution.
