Kobe University of Education (KUE) and Chinju National University of Education (CUE) from the Republic of Korea signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote academic cooperation and strengthen educational, cultural, and technological ties that will result in a better understanding between the institutions, facilitate staff and students exchange, and hence it augments academic career, research, and community service in both universities.
During the MoU signing ceremony, Dr Berhanemeskel Tena, the President of KUE, recalled Ethiopia’s sending of more than 6,000 soldiers during the Korean War (1950-53) and said that the relationship between the two countries had shown remarkable development since then. Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena also indicated that the MoU that KUE and CUE signed is another milestone for the long-standing relationship between the Ethiopian and Korean People and the government of the two nations which has already established strong relations and cooperation with the blood and bones of our forefathers.
The cooperation promotes teaching-learning endeavours, and research projects to be conducted said Dr Berhanemeskel.
On her part, Professor, Kim Hyun Joo, the Head professor of the delegation, said that the collaboration with KUE expands CUE’s scope in the international cooperation network.
Besides, the Professor expressed that the current project aimed at developing teacher education, reinforcing and improving basic education in both Ethiopia and Korea, and it would be funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
