Kotebe University of Education and DirectED Development Foundation Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Kotebe University of Education (KUE) and DirectED Development Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, on the 19th of December 2022, to work together in designing and implementing a cost-effective, scalable, and evidence-based scholarship training program.
At the event, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, the President of KUE, said that KUE’s Science Shared Campus students are brilliant and need to be assisted to make them tomorrow’s best scientists and engineers. The President also expressed that the students are very interested in studying Information Technology and Software Engineering.
Mr. Simon Sallstrom, the CEO of DirectED Development Foundation, underscored that his organization is enthusiastically interested in equipping talented students, particularly young schoolchildren with digit skills in its short-term plan. Mr. Simon also expressed that in the long term his organization would give the opportunity to a larger population of students to build the capacity of developing nations and hence enhance successful development, especially where resources are scared to assist the young generation.
It was learned the Foundation has been delivering successful training in Kenya, and it is also hoped that the organization replicates the same here in Ethiopian schools.

በኢፌዲሪ የህዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት የሰው ኃብት ልማት፣ ሥራ ሥምሪት እና ቴክኖሎጂ ጉዳዮች ቋሚ ኮሚቴ አባላት ዩኒቨርሲቲውን በጎበኙበት ወቅት የቋሚ ኮሚቴው ሰብሳቢ ዶ/ር ነገሪ ሌንጮ እንደገለፁት፣ ኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ (ኮ.ት.ዩ.) ሀገሪቱ የምትፈልጋቸውን የትምህርት ባለሙያዎች በጥራት እንዲያሰለጥን ትልቅ ኃላፊነት የተሰጠው ዩኒቨርሲቲ ነው፡፡
ሀገሪቱ ያለባትን የትምህርት ጥራት ችግር መፍታት ብቃት ያላቸውን የትምህርት ባለሙያዎችን እንዲያፈራ ትልቅ ኃላፊነት የተሰጠውን ኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሚገኝበትን አቋም ለመገምገም የመስክ ምልከታ ያካሄደ መሆኑን የጠቀሱት ዶ/ር ነገሪ ሌንጮ፣ ቋሚው የኮሚቴ አባላት ለመስክ ምልከታው ትልቅ ቦታ እንዳላቸውም አመልክተዋል፡፡
የመስክ ምልከታውን ትኩረት አስመልክቶ በተካሄደው ውይይት ወቅት የኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር ብርሃነመስቀል ጠና እንዳሉት፣ ዩኒቨርሲቲው በነበረው የስያሜ፣ ተልዕኮ እና የአደረጃጀት ለውጥ፣ የቦታ ጥበት፣ በበጀት እና በመሠረተ ልማት ረገድ የተለያዩ ችግሮች ቢኖሩበትም ውጤታማ የሆኑ ልዩ ልዩ ሀገራዊ ስራዎች ተከናውነዋል፡፡ በተለይም ከመስከረም 24/2014 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ ተቋሙ የተሰጠውን አዲስን ተልዕኮ በብቃት እንዲወጣ የሚያስችሉት ፍኖተ ካርታ እና ሥርዓተ ትምህርት የማዘጋጀት፣ የውጭ ሀገር ተሞክሮ የመቀመር፣ በውጭ እና በሀገር ውስጥ ዕውቅ ምሁራን የማስገምገም፣ ከተለያዩ ባለከድርሻ አካላት ጋር ውይይት የማካሄድ፣ ተቋሙን በአዲስ መልክ የማደራጀት እና የግንባታ ስራዎችን ውጤታማ በሆነ መልኩ የተከናወኑ መሆኑን የገለፁት ዶ/ር ብርሃነመስቀል፤ አሁንም ቀሪ ስራዎች በትጋት እየተሰሩ ስለመሆናቸው ተናግራዋል፡፡
ከመነሻ ውይይቱም በኋላ በዩኒቨርሲቲው ውስጥ በሚገኙ የቤተመጻሕፍት፣ የተማሪዎች መኝታ ክፍል እና የመመገቢያ አዳራሽ፣ ክሊኒክ፣ የመማሪያ ክፍሎች እንዲሁም ነባር እና እየተሰሩ ያሉ የህንፃ ግንባታዎች በመስክ ምልከታው የተጎበኙ ሲሆን ከጉብኝቱ በኋላም ከዩኒቨርሲቲው መምህራን እና የአስተዳደር ሰራተኞች ጋር ውይይት ተደርጓል፡፡
በተደረገው ውይይትም ወቅት የዩኒቨርሲቲው ማህበረሰብ መሠረተ ልማትና ለመማር ማስተማሩ የሚያስፈልጉ ግብዓቶች በተፈለገው ደረጃ አለመኖር እንደ ችግር የገለፁ ሲሆን፣ የቋሚ ኮሚቴው ሰብሳቢ ዶ/ር ነገሪ ሌንጮ በሰጡት ምላሽም ዩኒቨርሲቲው ትልቅ የሰው ሃብት ስላለው ተስፋ የሚጣልበት በመሆኑ የተዘረዘሩት የቦታ ጥበት፣ የበጀት፣ የመሠረተ ልማት እንዲሁም የመምህራን ጥቅማ-ጥቅም እና የደመወዝ ችግሮች በሂደት እንዲፈቱ ቋሚ ኮሚቴው ከሚመለከታቸው የመንግሥት አካላት ጋር ደረጃ በደረጃ እንደሚወያይ፣ ችግሮቹም እንደሚፈቱ ጠቅሰው እስከዚያው ድረስ ግን የመማር ማስተማሩ ሂደት በሰላማዊ መንገድ እንዲቀጥል መምህራን የበኩላቸውን ድርሻ እንዲወጡ አሳስበዋል፡፡

ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዶ/ር አብይ አህመድ “ለኢትዮጵያ ልዕልና፣ የምሁራን ሚና” ሚል ሀሳብ በኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና በአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህዳር 26/2015 ዓ.ም በኃይሌ ግራንድ ሆቴል በተካሄደው የምሁራን መድረክ ላይ ተገኝተው በሰጡት ገለፃ፣ ለሁሉም የምትመች የጋራ የሆነች ኢትዮጵያን ለመፍጠር የምሁራን ሚና ከፍተኛ ነው፡፡
ኢትዮጵያ ለመበልፀግ ዕድል ያላት ሀገር ናት ያሉት ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ፣ ሀገሪቷ በቂ የሰው ኃይል፣ ሰፊ ያልታረሰ ድንግል መሬት፣ የተፈጥሮ ሃብት እና ማህበረዊ ካፒታል ያላት በመሆኗ ብልፅግናዋን ለማረጋገጥ ምሁራን የፖሊሲ ግብዓቶችንና አሻጋሪ ምክረ-ሃሳቦችን በማቅረብና የውይይት ባህልን በማዳበር ከመንደር አስተሳሰብ የተሸገረ ሀገራዊ የሀሳብ ልዕልና እንዲሰፍን በማድረግ ረገድ ኃላፊነታቸውን እንዲወጡ አሳስበዋል፡፡
በመድረኩ የመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው የኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር ብርሃነመስቀል ጠና፤ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት በመማር ማስተማር ሀገር ተረካቢ ትውልድ ከመቅረፅ ባሻገር የሚሰሯቸውን ጥናትና ምርምሮችን መሠረት በማድረግ አካባቢያዊ እና ቀጠናዊ ችግሮቻችንን በመፍታት ረገድ ምሁራን ከፍተኛ ሚና እንዳላቸው ገልፀዋል፡፡ ሀገራዊ ተልዕኳችንን ከግብ ለማድረስ ተግተን መስራት ይጠበቅብናል ያሉት ፕሬዝዳንቱ፣ ተልዕኳችንም ሲደመር ግቡ አንዲት እናት ሀገርን መገንባት እንዲሁም ብልፅግናችንን እውን ማድረግ ነው ሲሉ ተናግረዋል፡፡
በመድረኩ ላይ ዶ/ር ሳሙኤል ተፈራ እና ዶ/ር ደቻሳ አበበ የዕለቱ ርዕሰ-ጉዳዮችን አስመልክተው የውይይት መነሻ ሀሳቦችን ያቀረቡ ሲሆን ተሳታፊ ምሁራንም የቀረቡትን ሀሳቦች በውይይት አዳብረዋል፡፡
በውይይቱ መዝጊያ ላይ የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር ደረጀ እንግዳ፣ በመድረክ ላይ የተነሱት ሀሳቦች በተግባር ላይ እንዲውሉ ሁሉም ምሁራን የበኩላቸውን አስተዋፅዖ እንዲያበረክቱ ጥሪ አቅርበዋል፡፡
በዕለቱ የምክክር መድረክ ላይ ከተለያዩ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች፣ የምርምር ተቋማትና ከባለድርሻ መ/ቤት የተወጣጡ ምሁራን መሳተፋቸውን ለማዋቅ ተችሏል፡፡

የሁለቱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንቶች በጋራ በሰጡት ጋዜጣዊ መግለጫ እንደገለፁት፣ “ለኢትዮጵያ ልዕልና የምሁራን ሚና” በሚል መሪ ቃል የፊታችን ሰኞ ህዳር 26 ቀን 2015 ዓ.ም በኃይሌ ግራንድ ሆቴል የሚካሄደው የምሁራን መድረክ ቅድመ ዝግጅቱ ተጠናቋል፡፡
የኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዚዳንት ዶክተር ብርሃነመስቀል ጠና እንዳሉት ይህ መድረክ ምሁራን በነፃነት የሚወያዩበት፣ የሃሳብ ልዕልና የሚፀባረቅበት፣ ለወቅታዊ ችግሮቻችን የሚበጁ ምክረ-ሃሳቦችም የሚቀርቡበት ይሆናል፡፡ በዚህ የምሁራን መድረክ ላይ ከ300 በላይ የሚሆኑ በዩኒቨርሲቲዎችና በተለያዩ የምርምር ተቋማት ውስጥ የሚሰሩ ምሁራን እና ጉዳዩ የሚመለከታቸው አካላት የሚያሳተፉ ሲሆን፣ ሀገራዊ እና ዓለማቀፋዊ ጉዳዮችን የሚያስቃኙ ሁለት የውይይት መነሻ ጽሑፎች ቀርበው ምሁራዊ ውይይት እንደሚካሄድባቸውም ዶክተር ብርሃነመስቀል ጠና ተናግረዋል፡፡
የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶክተር ደረጀ እንግዳ የምሁራንን አቅም የመጠቀም ውስንነት እንደነበር ጠቅሰው ከአሁን በኋላ ግን የምሁራን ተሳትፎ ለማሳደግ ተከታታይ ውይይቶች እንደሚዘጋጁ አመልክተዋል፡፡
ተጋባዥ ምሁራን በዚህ መድረክ ላይ ንቁ ተሳትፎ በማድረግ ሀገርን የሚያሻግር ሐሳብ በማቅረብ የዜግነት ድርሻቸውን እንዲወጡ ዶክተር ብርሃነመስቀል ጠና እና ዶክተር ደረጀ እንግዳ ጠይቀዋል፡፡

KUE Conducts Its Roadmap and Curricula Validation at Ministerial Level

After a series of intensive hands-on calibrations at various stages, Kotebe University of Education (KUE) conducted validation of its roadmap and curricula at the ministerial level today, on the 12th of November 2022. Led by the state ministers, Samuel Kifle (PhD) and Fanta Mandefro (PhD), the endorsement convening involved teachers’ professional development and curriculum experts of the Ministry of Education of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The state ministers were whole-heartedly in the favour of the efforts that have been undertaken by the University in paving the way to bring changes in the quality of education, and they unanimously underscored that the University should commence the execution of its plans taking the national education reform roadmaps and current education policy provisions into account.
It was also remarked that the University needs to consult and closely work with the experts of the Ministry to fine-tune the alignment of the national education policy and the existing demands of teachers and instructional leaders with the education professional workforce to be produced.

KUE Holds a Project Validation Workshop

Kotebe University of Education (KUE) held a project validation workshop today, on the 11th of November 2022 at Haile Grand Hotel. The validated project titled “Comprehensive Assessment and Profiling of Disaster Risk of Addis Ababa City and Institutional Assessment of Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission” of which agreement was signed between KUE (the then KMU) and Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission (FDRMC) two years ago. The project was compressive enough that it covered ten risk-prone areas, namely: fire, transport, biological, electrical, flood, landslide, industrial pollution, contraction, chemical, and radiation related potential disasters in the metropolis.
The final profiling document of the project is so exhaustive, voluminous, and inclusive to the extent that it holds about 2500 pages that detail the scenarios of the client organisation, i.e. FRDMC, and the way out of its current problems.
At the validation event, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, the President of KUE, emphatically underscored that the project was the second biggest that the University has undertaken ever before. The President also remarked that the project was conducted with a great sense of ownership and commitment. He further spoke that the University always strives to undertake projects which are not shelved, but practically executed.
Fiseha Garedew, the Commissioner of Addis Ababa City Administrations’ Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission, emphasised in his project validation event remarks that the project is so timely and it has paramount contributions towards alleviating the problems of his organisation. He also added that FDRMC would continue working with KUE even during the implementation phase of the project.

KUE Conducts Oromo Language and Literature Curricula Validations

The Department of Oromo Language, Literature, and Communications of Kotebe University of Education got validated two curricula, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes today, on the 26th of October 2022. The curricular documents for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have been reviewed by highly qualified and experienced reviewers from renowned universities – two external and one internal reviewers for each curriculum were identified and invited to carry out the validation.

የ2015 ትምህርት ዘመን የነባር የድህረ-ምረቃ፣ መጀመሪያ ዲግሪና የዲፕሎማ  የቀን፣የማታና የእረፍት ቀናት ተማሪዎች (ከ2ኛ አመት ድህረምረቃ ፕሮግራም በስተቀር) የአንደኛ ሴሚስተር ምዝገባ  ከጥቅምት 28 – 29 ቀን 2015 ዓ.ም. የሚከናወን መሆኑን እያስታወቅን በተጠቀሱት ቀናት ‘’online’’ ምዝገባ እንድታከናውኑ እናሳስባለን፡፡

    • የድህረ-ምረቃና የ “Extension” ተማሪዎች የምዝገባ ክፍያ ስርአት ሙሉ በሙሉ የሚከናወነው በ online  CBE Birr  መሆኑን፣  በደረሰኝና በባንክ አካውንት የማናስተናግድና  በደረሰኝና በባንክ አካውንት ለምዝገባ የተከፈለ ክፍያ ተቀባይነት የማይኖረው መሆኑን
    • ከምዝገባ በኋላ ባሉት 10 ቀናት ውስጥ የቀድሞው የተማሪዎች መታወቂያ የሚቀየር ስለሆነ በሲስተሙ ፕሮፋይላችሁ ላይ ለመታወቂያ የሚሆን ፎቶ ግራፍ(3 ×4) ከወዲሁ እንድታስገቡና ከየኮሌጁ/ፋካሊቲ/አካዳሚ በመጠየቅ መታወቂያችሁን እንድታስቀይሩ
    • የ2015 ትምህርት አንደኛ ሴሚስተር ትምህርት  ጥቅምት 30 ቀን 2015 ዓ.ም. የሚጀምር መሆኑን እናስታውቃለን፡፡

Intel Corporation and Infranet Technology PLC Promise to Support and Work With KUE

Intel Corporation which is a multinational company and Infranet Technology PLC have promised particularly to support the brilliant students who are recruited through rigorous competition to join grade nine at the Science Shared campus of Kotebe University of Education (KUE).
In his opening remarks of today’s event, on the 28th of September 2022, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, the President of Kotebe University of Education, delightfully acknowledged the contributions to be made by both companies to nurture tomorrow’s world-class scientists, engineers and innovators. The President has attested the brilliant and gifted students at the campus would enormously be benefited from the corporations’ charitable contributions. He also requested the delegates of both companies to lend their hands in rebuilding the school and empowering the promising schoolchildren at the campus.
Dr. Zelalem Assefa, the Director General of ICT and Digital Development at the FDRE Ministry of Education, underscored that the KUE’s Science Shared has been chosen as a model school for its best performance. Dr. Zelalem further remarked that the Ministry has already developed digital supplementary materials that would benefit the students in their schooling.
Mr. Norberto Antonio, the Intel Corporation’s Territory Business Consumption Director promised that his company would equip the school classrooms with the best technologies and facilities that benefit the students and aid them in realising their dreams. Mr. Ismael Khalifa, the Managing Partner of Infranet Technology PLC, on his part, underlined that the aids have already been ordered and are being shipped to be delivered and installed within a week’s time.
It was learnt that the Science Shared Campus of Kotebe University of Education was established in 2014 with the vision to have the best model school which nurtures and shapes talented students in producing tomorrow’s world-class engineers and scientists for the founders of the centre believe that ‘inside every child, there is a scientist”.
