Overview

The Department of English Language and Literature is one of three departments within the College of Language and Education (CLE) at Kotebe University of Education (KUE). We offer both BA and BEd degrees in English Language and Literature through our regular and weekend undergraduate programs. For postgraduate studies, we currently run four distinct programs: a PhD in TEFL, a DEd in ELT, an MEd in ELT, and an MEd in Literature. Additionally, we provide a Diploma program in English Teaching.

Our core activities include:

  • Delivering common and specialized courses to our students and those from other universities or colleges;
  • Providing continuous professional development to the University academic staff through our English Language Improvement Program (ELIP);
  • Helping students enhance their English language skills at our Language Improvement and Development Center;
  • Conducting community service by offering professional training for teachers and administrative staff in primary and secondary schools;
  • Undertaking diverse research projects;
  • Offering advisory services to students and public and private organizations;
  • Developing and improving some selected indigenous and foreign languages;
