From its humble beginnings as a college of teacher education, Kotebe University of Education has evolved into a comprehensive University of Education, continuously adapting to meet the changing needs of our students and society. As we embark on this new chapter, our resolute dedication remains to shape the future of education by nurturing dedicated teachers, cultivating visionary educational leaders, curriculum experts, and psychologists.
Our university is currently undergoing an exciting phase of expansion and development, with the construction of new state-of-the-art campus facilities. We proudly embrace the motto, “We teach as we build, and as we build, we teach,” reflecting our commitment to seamlessly integrate our educational mission with the physical growth of the institution.
One of the crown jewels of Kotebe University of Education is the Science Shared Campus, which has consistently produced high-achieving high school students with annual Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination passing rate of 100% even with great distinction over the past several years. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our unwavering dedication to educational excellence and innovation. Our goal is to create an exceptional learning environment that cultivates intellectual growth, critical thinking, and innovation. This will equip our graduates with the skills and values to make a positive impact on the education system.
Establishing a university with new vision and mission requires careful planning. To build a strong foundation for the next generation, we have developed a comprehensive five-year strategic plan and curriculum framework. This was guided by the university’s roadmap and involved educational experts from within the country and internationally.
As the founding President of Kotebe University of Education, I am honored to take on the responsibility of shaping the future of this esteemed institution. When I assumed for the role of the founding president, I felt a profound sense of happiness and responsibility. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity one gets to establish the solo University of Education for the country on a strong foundation for the next generation.
In doing so, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our university community, including the dedicated leaders and staff who are working alongside us to make this vision a reality.
