Overview

The Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE) aims to produce high-quality CTE educators who will possess technical expertise, pedagogical competencies, and values to effectively teach 21st century skills while using culturally responsive teaching to diverse learners. Besides, this program prepares students to teach at the middle level the real-world job skills that today’s employers expect. Students will learn the latest instructional methods, techniques, and technologies used in today’s classrooms, and explore creative ways to blend quality course experiences with practical, hands-on learning.

Graduates from the Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE) will have diverse professional profiles due to the broad range of skills and knowledge they acquire during their studies. This program focuses on hands-on learning and practical skills development in different industries such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, business, and arts and more. Therefore, it prepares students to participate effectively in these industries. Career and Technical Education has different key components such as skill development, career preparation, integration of academic and technical skills, work-based learning, collaboration with industry partners and pathways to higher education.
