Description of the Executive Office
The Information and Communications Executive Office is accountable to the office of the President of the University. It is organized in five teams: ICT Infrastructure and Security team, Software Development team, System Administration team, Computer Maintenance and Support team and Network Administration team; all with dedicated team leader. The Information Communications Technology Executive office has duties and responsibilities of:
- Leading, managing and developing the staff of the ICT office in discharging responsibility for the development and implementation of innovative Information and Communication Technologies strategy;
- Co-ordinating the alignment of the ICT Strategy to the overall University Strategy and ensuring that the ICT Strategy evolves to meet the changing needs of the university;
- Working with colleges/Institutes/schools/departments/units throughout the University to ensure that their ICT current and future needs are identified and demonstrate the potential for the application of ICT within their areas;
- Designing policies and standards for the use of ICT within the University and monitor adherence to these policies and standards;
- Ensuring academic resource centers such as classrooms, conference rooms, meeting hall, laboratories and libraries are ICT supported;
- Managing the planning and delivery of ICT infrastructure projects;
- Ensuring that the University network is running and providing the required services at all times;
- Providing support and guidance to the University community in regard to the ICT infrastructure and usage;
- Researching and advising on emerging ICT technologies and trends that can benefit the University
- Facilitating induction, training and development of ICT staff;
- Advising on issues such as legal & regulatory requirements, compliance and risk and security that are related to ICT activities of the University;
- Carrying out other relevant tasks assigned by the University President.
