Description of the Center

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Center at Kotebe University of Education is dedicated to promoting excellence in STEM education and research. The center focuses on enhancing the quality of STEM teaching and learning, fostering innovation and creativity among primary and secondary school students, and providing opportunities for hands-on learning experiences. Through various programs, workshops, and collaborations, the STEM Center at Kotebe University aims to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technologists in Ethiopia. Specifically, the center

  • undertakes Science, Technology, and Innovation Day to impetus innovation and innovators among primary and secondary school students.
  • trains primary and secondary school science and mathematics teachers to boost their awareness of STEM.
  • orchestrates training for primary and secondary school principals on STEM education leadership to improve their role in promoting STEM in their schools’ ecosystem.
  • creates a strong tie with STEM stakeholders such as STEMPOWER and STEMSYNERGY.
  • mentors talented students in STEM through thorough follow-up and support.
  • organizes laboratory sessions for secondary school students and teachers.
