KUE, October 22, 2025 — Kotebe University of Education (KUE), through its Academic Programs Directorate, conducted a training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Outcome-Based Curriculum Design (OBCD) for deans, department heads, course developers, and curriculum review teams.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Fekede Tuli, Vice President for Academic Affairs, underscored the importance of revising curricula to meet the demands of a dynamic and rapidly changing world.
“Revising programs and curricula is crucial in today’s world,” said Dr. Fekede. “In light of this, the Ministry of Education has provided frameworks to reform curricula that align learning outcomes with industry needs. This training will therefore equip you with insights to strengthen our curriculum reform efforts.”
The training was led by Dr. Girma Belachew, Director of Academic Programs, who delivered detailed sessions on the concepts of OBE and OBCD. He explained the guiding principles, key steps in outcome-based curriculum design, and presented sample reformed curricula from selected Universities of Applied Sciences (UASs).
Following Dr. Girma’s presentation, participants raised insightful questions regarding the concept of OBE and its practical alignment with the Ministry of Education’s framework, as well as the intended outcomes for students in an increasingly competitive world. The session concluded with an engaging discussion and constructive responses from the facilitator.
