Dr. Teshome noted that the teaching profession is often undervalued in society and emphasized the need to work together to strengthen its image. He highlighted that teaching is a respected and fulfilling profession with meaningful opportunities for growth. “I have been a teacher my entire life and have always lived a dignified and rewarding life,” he added.
He also outlined the university’s reform directions and invited students to share their views and challenges. He addressed their questions and expressed appreciation for their active engagement.
The Academic Vice President, Dr. Alebachew Kemiso, introduced himself and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting students’ academic needs.
Mr. Abay Belayhun, Dean of Student Services, presented the student union representatives and encouraged students to communicate concerns through their elected leaders. He also helped clarify several service-related questions.
Students acknowledged the president and leadership’s readiness to engage and they raised issues that need improvement in teaching–learning, facilities, and student services to create a better environment that supports students’ learning and growth. The university leadership responded to the issues raised and expressed its commitment to creating a conducive and favorable environment within the capacity of the university and the country.
