KUE at the 10th National Science and Engineering Fair

The 10th National Science and Engineering Fair was held from November 10-13, 2025 and was a huge stage for young talent and a testament to Ethiopia’s commitment to technological advancements. The Ministry of Education hosted the event in collaboration with stakeholders such as Ministry of innovation and Technology, STEM Synergy and STEMPower. The fair was officially opened by H.E. W/ro Ayelech Eshete, State Minister for General Education of the MoE. For every student, the four days represented the culmination of months of hard work, practical building, and testing.
In this competition, the KUE STEM Center and the Science Shared Campus (SSC) took part. A total of six projects represented KUE in the fair. The projects were done in collaboration with STEMSynergy. All the necessary materials used to produce the prototype were funded by STEMSynergy. Most of the project ideas were developed during the AI and Python programming conducted for 8 weeks between August and September, 2025. This training was also fully funded by STEMSynergy.
Stepping into the fair, the energy was amazing—a lively space full of smart, curious students who shared a common vision on creating new technology. Connecting with 133 fellow students from STEM Centers and schools all over Ethiopia, the fair was a really important place for exchanging ideas, allowing us to talk constructively with peers working on projects based on robotics, engineering, and emerging technology.
The results validated the intense effort we put in at the KUE STEM Center. Team ADAPTA claimed the first prize in the Robotics category, and Team LOCVAC secured the top rank in the Engineering category. For these victories, both teams received high-spec laptops that will help continue their innovation journey. Sweeping first place in two major categories is a historic achievement that clearly demonstrates the high quality of mentorship provided in the STEM center. One of the LOCVAC team member also secured a full scholarship provided by STEMSynergy that will cover tuition fees and pocket money for four years.
Kotebe University of Education STEM Center was also named the Best STEM Center of 2025 in Ethiopia. This acknowledgment stands as a testament to the mentorship approach within our center. Therefore, this will empower us to further our education and contribute to our country’s technical growth, building on the strong foundation KUE STEM Center has provided.
