KUE Signs MoU with Imagine1day INGO to Support Underperforming Schools

KUE, December 16, 2025) — Kotebe University of Education (KUE) held a briefing session and officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Imagine1day, marking the start of a collaborative capacity-building initiative aimed at improving school leadership, teaching, and learning outcomes in 700 secondary schools across Ethiopia, particularly those with low national examination pass rates.
Opening the event, Dr. Teshome Nekatibeb, President of KUE, warmly welcomed the Imagine1day delegation and expressed appreciation for their interest in partnering with KUE. He emphasized the significance of the collaboration in strengthening education quality through technical support and research-based interventions, and introduced the university’s leadership.
In his remarks, Dr. Seid Aman, CEO of Imagine1day, thanked KUE for the warm reception and outlined the purpose of the partnership. He stated that the collaboration aims to support 700 secondary schools nationwide by providing research-driven solutions, technical assistance, mentoring, and coaching to address persistent challenges related to national examination performance.
During the briefing, it was noted that KUE will play a central role in training master trainers and coaches, conducting research, and publishing and disseminating the outcomes of the collaborative initiatives while also contributing to efforts aimed at attracting and preparing students for the teaching profession. The trained personnel will work closely with schools through a school-based support model, guided by continuous mentoring and supervision.
Dr. Alebachew Kemiso, Vice President for Academic Affairs, also welcomed the Imagine1day team and commended the collaboration, noting that the partnership comes at a timely moment, as KUE is undertaking similar national initiatives aimed at improving school performance and overall educational quality.
Following the briefing session, both teams engaged in a constructive discussion, after which the MoU signing ceremony was formally concluded.
