(KUE, December 20, 2025) – A training program on “Environmental Education and Climate Journalism” was conducted at Kotebe University of Education (KUE) for teachers and school principals from various schools.
Inaugurating the training, Dr. Tewodros Mulugeta, Vice President for Research and Community Engagement, emphasized the critical role of environmental education. He noted that students must prioritize environmental challenges and urged teachers to fully engage in the program to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to inspire their students.
Presenting online on the theme “Project Overall Goal and Next Steps,” Eric Selemani of the Pulitzer Center emphasized that the organization works closely with teachers and journalists to raise awareness of environmental education and climate issues. He noted that the current training is part of this broader mission and affirmed that such collaborative efforts will be further strengthened in the future.
Dr. Yitayal Addis, Director of the Community Engagement Directorate, focusing on “Content Inclusion and Teaching Practices,” highlighted that participating teachers are expected to provide practical, hands-on knowledge to help students better understand global environmental issues in real-life contexts.
Dr. Meseret Habtamu, Head of the President’s Office, delivered a detailed presentation on environmental education and climate journalism. She explored effective communication strategies for diverse audiences, the core objectives of environmental education, and the vital role climate journalism plays in driving public awareness and action.
The training concluded with participants presenting practical exercises and developing lesson plans, followed by group presentations and discussions.
