KUE Successfully Concludes Its 3rd National Research Conference

(KUE, January 24, 2026) – Kotebe University of Education (KUE) has successfully concluded its 3rd National Research Conference under the theme “Vocationalization of General Education: Pathways to Skills and Employability.”
The concluding conference featured parallel research sessions addressing key themes such as graduate employability, policy coherence, technical and vocational education, innovation and entrepreneurship, skills development, and the integration of digital technologies in education.
In the afternoon, a combined panel and plenary session brought together Mr. Mahtebe Alemayehu (Ministry of Education), Dr. Efrem Tekle (KUE), and Dr. Melese Yigzaw (General Winget polytechnic College), moderated by Dr. Getachew Baye.
The three panelists elaborated on reforms, policy phases, and implementation challenges, balancing skill development with academic knowledge in teacher education, integrating practice-oriented curricula, and pathways for collaboration with vocational institutions, including the use of psychometric testing to identify students’ inclination and guide vocational training. The session also provided a platform for participants to raise questions, share perspectives, and reflect on the presented research, fostering interactive dialogue on policy implications and strategies to advance vocationalized and digital education in Ethiopia.
Closing the event, Dr. Tewodros Mulugeta, Vice President for Research and Community Engagement at KUE, emphasized that the conference should serve as an ongoing platform for dialogue, with future gatherings focusing on success stories achieved through research-informed solutions.
The conference concluded with the presentation of certificates and a networking session, marking a successful forum for advancing education, skills development, and employability in Ethiopia.
