A major step toward transforming Ethiopian education was taken today, July 26, 2025, with the launch of a Hybrid Certificate Program on Competency-Based Teaching (CBT) at Adama. The program is a joint initiative by the FDRE Ministry of Education, Kotebe University of Education, and Geneva Global.
In his opening speech, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, President of Kotebe University, highlighted the shift from rote memorization to real-world skill development. “This model produces graduates prepared not only for jobs but for meaningful contributions to society real life,” he said.
The training is led by Dr. Joshua Muskin, a global expert in CBT, who is helping educators explore scientific foundations and hands-on applications of competency-based instruction.
Participants are not just learners—they are seen as future leaders who will champion this educational shift across the country.
The three-day training introduces a hybrid model that integrates Cometence Based Curriculum (CBC) into both pre-service and in-service teacher training, aligning with Ethiopia’s educational reform goals. By building teacher capacity, this initiative aims to prepare learners for today’s dynamic and evolving world.
