The FAITH project, coordinated by Kotebe University of Education and funded by the European Union, successfully held its third General Assembly (GA) on February 4, 2025.
Under the theme “Ethiopian Applied Science Universities are: F(itted), A(djusted), I(nnovative), T(rendy), and H(olistic) to Meet the Labor Market,” the assembly provided a platform to evaluate the project’s progress and discuss its future direction.
Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, President of Kotebe University of Education, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech, highlighting the successful rollout of the project across three applied science universities in Ethiopia over the past year. He emphasized that the completion of Work Projects 1, 2, and 3 has not only demonstrated strong performance but also strengthened institutional capacity for future initiatives.
Dr. Berhanemeskel also underscored the vital role of the FAITH project in enhancing Ethiopia’s educational system. He noted that EU-funded projects, compared to those with other organizations, have been more flexible and practical in their implementation. Expressing gratitude to the European Union for its financial support, he also acknowledged the participating universities for their valuable contributions. Additionally, he conveyed the EU’s commitment to further strengthening support and achieving even greater results in the future.
Dr. Ephrem Tekle, FAITH project coordinator at Kotebe University of Education, praised the project’s effectiveness while emphasizing that the next phase will require significant effort. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure continued success.
The General Assembly also facilitated discussions on challenges encountered during implementation and potential solutions. Participants included representatives from universities and institutions in Germany, as well as Minsistry of Education, Wolaita sodo University, Jigjiga University, and Kotebe University of Education.
