Kotebe University of Education Hosts Online CPD Workshop for teachers

KUE, October 11, 2025 — The Department of English Language and Literature at Kotebe University of Education (KUE), in collaboration with the World Voice and Art Association (WVAA) and the British Council, organized an online Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop for representative teacher trainees from various government schools in Addis Ababa, and English language students , and ,educational leadership and management students.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Dejen Chaka, Dean of the College of Languages and Education, emphasized that the program aligns with KUE’s mission to produce competent professionals. He noted that one challenge in schools is the low English language proficiency among teachers, and this initiative is expected to help bridge that gap.
Mrs. Julia Staton, Lead for English Connects at the British Council for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the growing accessibility of professional resources and the importance of continuous professional development for teachers in the digital era.
During the workshop, the WVAA team guided participants through hands-on sessions exploring British Council platforms, including EnglishTeaching.org and TeachingEnglish in Africa. Participants practiced navigating the sites, identifying relevant teaching resources, and applying them in classroom contexts.
