Kotebe University of Education Successfully Concludes 3rd International Research Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education

Kotebe University of Education successfully concluded its 3rd International Research Conference on February 28, 2025, at the Haile Grand Hotel in Addis Ababa. The event, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Education: Opportunities and Challenges for the Global South,” spanned two days and brought together scholars, researchers, and policymakers from Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Canada, India, the United States, and various Ethiopian universities.
In his closing remarks, the university’s president, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, expressed his gratitude to the participants for their dedication and insightful contributions. He stated, “This conference has served as a platform for rich discussions, knowledge sharing, and forward-thinking dialogue on the role of Artificial Intelligence in education, particularly in the context of the Global South. We have explored how AI can enhance educational access, quality, and innovation, while also addressing the challenges we must overcome.”
Dr. Berhanemeskel highlighted the transformative potential of AI in areas such as personalized learning, intelligent assessment, and digital equity. He also acknowledged the contributions of government officials, international partners, and the organizing committee, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to drive meaningful change in education. Concluding his speech, the president urged participants to translate ideas into action, saying, “Let us leave here inspired, connected, and ready to build stronger partnerships that will shape the future of education.”
The conference featured presentations and discussions on AI’s role in education, inspiring attendees with the potential for innovation and collaboration in the field.
