KUE Launches Second Round Scholarship Fair

(KUE, November 17, 2025) — Kotebe University of Education (KUE) has launched its second “Study in Europe” scholarship fair, creating a platform where students and faculty meet representatives of EU member countries to explore further study opportunities.
Dr. Teshome Nekatibeb, President of KUE, welcomed invited guests and officially opened the event. In his remarks, Dr. Teshome emphasized that such opportunities go beyond crossing borders—they “open minds, build bridges, and nurture leaders who think globally and act locally.” He highlighted the vast skills and experiences students gain through international study programs and noted that EU countries, through initiatives such as DAAD and Erasmus+, offer thousands of scholarships to African students each year.
Dr. Teshome also stated that KUE is working to address challenges related to academic mobility. These efforts include expanding scholarship opportunities, promoting inclusive policies, and leveraging digital innovations such as virtual exchanges and hybrid learning models—ensuring that mobility becomes not a privilege for a few but a right for all.
H.E. Mrs. Sophie From-Emusberger, Ambassador of EU to Ethiopia, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration with KUE and underscored the importance of Study in Europe opportunities, which have benefited many high-ranking leaders, including former President Sahle-Work Zewde, former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, and former Prime Minister Aklilu Habtewold. She also commended Dr. Teshome for his commitment to quality education and international engagement.
The university management, faculty members፣ KUE students, high school students from various government and private schools, attended the launching event. The fair will run for two days (November 17–18, 2025).
This is the second time KUE has hosted the event; the first fair was held on December 9–10, 2024.
