(KUE, September 5, 2026) – Kotebe University of Education (KUE) has certified 42 women following a one-month Women’s Economic Empowerment Program focused on STEMpower Chemical Microfactory training. Participants gained practical expertise in producing bar soap, liquid detergents, powder detergent, and cooking oil, alongside essential training in product packaging, safety, and business management.
University leaders praised the initiative, with KUE Vice President Dr. Tewodros Mulugeta urging graduates to transform their skills into income-generating businesses to support their families. Community Engagement Director Dr. Yitayal Addis Alemayehu stressed that academic knowledge creates real-world impact when it fosters new livelihoods, while KUE STEM Center Director Mr. Sintayehu Alemnew highlighted how STEM education solves practical problems by helping participants build sustainable enterprises. Program Coordinator Mr. Berhanu Honelign also commended the trainees’ dedication, framing the certification as a launchpad for ongoing business development.
The initiative was supported by the KUE STEM Center, STEM power Ethiopia, and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), with graduates planning to launch small-scale and home-based businesses for long-term economic independence.
