KUE and edify Conduct Orientation Session for Teachers’ CPD Training

(KUE, February 7, 2026) – Kotebe University of Education (KUE), in collaboration with edify, conducted an orientation session for a six-month Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training program which consists of six sessions—four face-to-face and two online.
The training targets over 400 representative teachers from pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools operating in low-fee private schools in Addis Ababa City Administration and Oromia Regional State (Sheger City).
Opening the session, Dr. Teshome Kondale, Director of In-Service Training at KUE, highlighted the purpose of the training and stressed the need for continuous professional updating in a rapidly changing world. He emphasized that teachers must equip themselves with 21st-century skills to meet current educational demands.
Dr. Teshome further noted that teachers should be competent not only in the subjects they teach, but also in social, communication, and moral domains.
On her part, Mrs. Mihiret Tefera, edify’s Educational program Country Lead, outlined the objectives and procedures of the training. She shared experiences from the initial phase of the program, noting that out of 200 participants, over 90 were certified, with strict emphasis placed on attendance and completion of assigned tasks.
Mrs. Mihiret also stressed the importance of openness to lifelong learning. She highlighted key competency areas to be addressed in the training, including 21st-century teaching pedagogy, assessment for learning, teachers as reflective practitioners, and instructional technology.
It is worth recalling that, in the previous cohort, over 90 participants were certified during a certification ceremony held at KUE on November 1, 2025.
